ARTIST STATEMENT

The mountains and trails of the North Shore are my playground and my inspiration. My paintings are created through a culmination of experience and memory of natural spaces. For me landscape painting does not merely entail creating visual representations. The natural world provides a rich narrative source of life's mysteries of; emergence, transformation, life and decay. I am particularly interested in painting waterscapes to explore these ideas and metaphors; what is in a reflection, what lies on the surface and what lies beneath. I work in layers moving between chaos and order hoping to capture the momentary beauty.
